Abstract
Objectives
: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships between the maternal burden of caretaking and the child-rearing attitude of the infants' mothers.
Methods
: The subjects were 117 mothers of infants who had visited a public health center during the period of July 1st to 30th in 2003. Han's the Burden of Caretaking Scale and Colher's Maternal Attitude Scale were used.
Results
: The results of this study were as follows; The mean score of the maternal burden of caretaking and the child-rearing attitude were 21.7, 63.1 respectively. The maternal burden of caretaking was significantly related with infant birth order(p<0.05), and the child-rearing attitude was significantly related with infant's age(p<0.10). There were significant relationships between the caretaking burden and the child-rearing attitude of the infants' mothers when the effects of maternal education, economic state, number of children, intention to pregnancy and presence of rearing-supporter were controlled(r=-0.318, p <0.001). Conclusions : In conclusion, as maternal burden of caretaking was stronger, the subject's child-rearing attitude was more negative.
Key Words: maternal burden of caretaking, child-rearing attitude
