Abstract

Objectives
: The purpose of this study was to understand the relationships among quality of life, uncertainty, total symptom distress(TSD) of women with endometriosis and to identify the factors influencing quality of life.
Methods
: The study subjects were 121 outpatients with endometriosis from 7 Hospital in Busan Metropolitan City and Kyungsangnam do. The data have been collected from Aug 1, 2004 to Jan 31, 2005. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS WIN 10.0 statistical program.
Results
: The mean score of the quality of life, uncertainty and TSD were 38.3(range 0~100), 56.6(range 23~115), 3.23(range 0~9), respectively. Quality of life score was statistically different by age(p=0.026) and pain associated with menstruation(p=0.001). In multiple regression analysis, TSD was the main influencing factor of quality of life(R2=0.257).
Conclusions
: Endometriosis total symptom distress was a major influencing factor on quality of life in women with endometriosis. Therefore, symptom management may be an important intervention for quality of life improvement among them.
